Clarity before commitment. Direction before execution.

When an opportunity has potential but the scope, budget, creative direction, or path forward is not yet fully defined, moving too quickly into production can create expensive mistakes.

BOX Media Group's Strategic Discovery & Creative Direction Retainer gives founders, companies, and project leaders access to senior strategic and creative judgment before major decisions are made. The engagement is designed to clarify the opportunity, challenge assumptions, identify risks, and establish a commercially grounded direction.

WHEN THE IDEA IS REAL, BUT THE PATH ISN'T CLEAR YET.

Some projects arrive with a complete brief. Others begin with an opportunity, a challenge, a rough concept, or a sense that something valuable could be developed. This engagement is built for that earlier stage.

It creates the time and professional focus required to understand what you are trying to achieve, determine what is commercially realistic, and identify the strongest way forward before substantial money, time, or organizational energy is committed.

The goal is not to rush toward a predetermined deliverable. The goal is to make better decisions.

THIS ENGAGEMENT MAY BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF:

  1. You have a strong idea but do not yet have a defined scope or execution plan.

  2. You are preparing to launch, reposition, expand, or transform a business, brand, product, service, space, or experience.

  3. Multiple possibilities are competing for attention and you need an experienced outside perspective.

  4. You need to test the commercial strength and practical realities of an opportunity.

  5. You want strategic and creative direction before requesting production estimates.

  6. You need clarity around priorities, audiences, positioning, budget, timing, or required partners.

  7. You want to identify avoidable risks before committing to execution.

WHAT WE MAY EXPLORE.

Every engagement is shaped by the opportunity, its maturity, and the information available. Areas of consideration may include:

  1. Project vision, purpose, and commercial objective

  2. Audiences, users, buyers, and stakeholders

  3. Market relevance and positioning

  4. Brand, messaging, creative, and communications

  5. Customer, retail, event, exhibit, or experiential opportunities

  6. Operational, production, fabrication, rollout, and logistical realities

  7. Preliminary budget expectations and commercial feasibility

  8. Risks, gaps, assumptions, and dependencies

  9. Required specialists, suppliers, collaborators, and strategic partners

  10. Project priorities, phases, and recommended next steps

The process is intentionally flexible. Time is directed toward the questions and decisions that can create the greatest practical value.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE AT THE END.

The objective is to replace ambiguity with a defined decision point and a practical next step. Depending on the engagement, the conclusion may include:

  1. Strategic observations and opportunities

  2. Identified risks or concerns

  3. Audience and market considerations

  4. Recommended priorities

  5. Preliminary creative or marketing direction

  6. Suggested project phases

  7. Budget, production, or operational considerations

  8. Required resources or specialist expertise

  9. A recommendation to proceed, revise, pause, or discontinue

  10. A proposal for a subsequent creative, strategic, or production phase

The right conclusion is not always to proceed. Sometimes the greatest value is identifying what must change before further investment is made.

HOW THE RETAINER WORKS.

The engagement reserves priority senior capacity that may be applied across:

  1. Review of supplied information and materials

  2. Strategic meetings and working sessions

  3. Independent evaluation and consideration

  4. Preliminary research

  5. Conceptual and creative exploration

  6. Internal or specialist consultation

  7. Written observations and directional recommendations

  8. Preparation of a defined next-step pathway

The retainer is managed according to project priorities and professional judgment. It is not an unlimited-access arrangement or a conventional production quote built around minute-by-minute billing.

THREE LEVELS OF STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT.

The appropriate retainer is determined by the maturity and complexity of the opportunity, the number of stakeholders, the volume of existing material, and the depth of strategic consideration required.

1. FOUNDATIONAL STRATEGIC RETAINER.

24-hour senior capacity allocation

$5,600 plus applicable taxes

Best suited to a focused opportunity requiring initial discovery, evaluation, strategic clarification, and a defined next-step pathway.

2. EXPANDED STRATEGIC RETAINER.

34-hour senior capacity allocation

$8,580 plus applicable taxes

Best suited to a more developed or multifaceted opportunity involving additional research, materials, stakeholders, working sessions, or strategic and creative exploration.

3. COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGIC RETAINER.

44-hour senior capacity allocation

$11,500 plus applicable taxes

Best suited to a complex opportunity requiring deeper immersion, broader evaluation, multiple decision-makers, greater creative exploration, or the development of a more detailed strategic pathway.

BOX will recommend the most appropriate level after an introductory conversation. The 24-hour allocation is the minimum engagement. Larger or ongoing assignments may be structured through a custom phased or monthly retainer.

The selected retainer is payable in full before commencement. Additional capacity or a subsequent project phase can be authorized separately if required.

WHAT THIS ENGAGEMENT IS NOT.

This is a preliminary strategic and directional engagement. It is not a quotation for final design, fabrication, implementation, media placement, campaign execution, or production.

If the recommended direction calls for further creative development or execution, BOX can prepare a separate proposal for the next phase. There is no obligation to continue unless both parties agree that it makes sense.

START WITH A CONVERSATION.

If you are considering an opportunity and need experienced strategic and creative direction before deciding what comes next, let's begin with a focused introductory conversation.

We will discuss the opportunity, its current stage, the decisions in front of you, and which level of engagement is appropriate.
